DR. HAROLD BAILEY

Branch President

Message from the President

Hello:

The National NAACP is the oldest and largest civil rights organization in the country. It was founded in 1909. The state of New Mexico was granted statehood in 1912. The Albuquerque NAACP received its official Charter on January 5, 1915. One can see that the Albuquerque Branch has a long and rich history of fighting for civil and human rights and meeting racism and discrimination with proportionate resistance. The Albuquerque Branch has a strong track record emphasizing the need to register our youth and young adults to vote and get them out to vote. It’s their time and we should embrace their fire, passion, and leadership capabilities so they can become positive change agents. I am proud to be President. I will always represent this office with dignity and respect. Over the past one hundred and eight years, there have been many presidents before me. They all made exceptional progress. I will work to do the same. Lastly, the NAACP is not a Black organization. Many have this misconception. White people were at the table when the organization was founded. Historically and factually speaking, the National NAACP and the local Branch fight to preserve and protect the civil rights of all people. For the local Branch to continue to grow. We need additional members to work with us while on this journey. I ask that one consider becoming a member. Join us to make Albuquerque better for all of us! Together We Advance!! If not, please continue to inform us of any incidents that may be discriminatory in nature.

Thank you.

Respectfully,

Harold Bailey,

Ph.D. President
